Self-care Coaching & Guided Self-massage Sessions
Session Overview
Massage therapy treatments are undoubtedly a great way to treat pain, tension and feelings of stress, but there are advantages to combining self-care coaching and learning how to self- massage. Self-care coaching is a process that enables you to achieve your desired goals by participating in sessions centered around turning your specific needs, motivations, desires, skills and thought processes into making real progress and lasting change. Learning the skills to apply self-massage techniques from the comfort of your home can help you relieve sudden pain yourself quickly without having to wait for an appointment. Best of all, you can become the expert of your body and use the techniques whenever you need it.
It’s your body and your pain...
No one can ever have the connection with your pain that you have. You know exactly where it hurts and how much it hurts. You know when a treatment feels right and when it doesn’t. With self-applied massage techniques, you’ll have total control over treatment and feel a sense of empowerment when you discover that you know how to get rid of your own pain.
Don’t worry, I’m here to guide you through the process.
Your session will be conducted online via Zoom and begins with a consultation of what pain or levels of stress you are feeling. After I have collected enough information, I will offer my expertise. If stress management is your concern, we will discuss various options that may help you. If pain relief is your concern, I will walk you through a step by step self-massage technique method for you to resolve the pain yourself. Once you have completed the method we will re-evaluate your condition to determine if further treatment for the area is necessary.
How soon should I expect pain relief results?
It’s important to realize that self-treatment won’t all be smooth going because there will be some difficulties to surmount. You can make some kinds of pain go away very quickly, however a long-established chronic pain may take longer to clear up. This is because knots (trigger points) that have been in place for a long time have made pathways to the nervous system that tend to reinforce and perpetuate them. You may also have long-term postural dysfunctions, structural variations, or nutritional deficiencies that perpetuate your pain.
I’ve tried self-massage in the past with little success….
There is a good chance treatment was not administered properly. By working with me, you have a professional to help you ensure treatment success.
Knots (trigger points) can create referred pain patterns to make you believe one area is the problem when in reality it’s the effect of the real underlying cause. I will be your map and help you find the location that needs therapy.
Not all massage techniques are created equal. I am going to be your technique manual to help you apply safe techniques that have been proven successful.
Massage therapy should be a “hurts so good” feeling (where you feel discomfort but are still able to relax). When applying self-massage techniques, folks tend to ignore this concept and dig in ignoring the pain unaware that it can lead to injury. In your session I will be instructing you on how to perform self-massage techniques in a way that is safe and effective to minimize the risk of injury.
